The lack of trust between the institutions and a large part of the Muslim community prevents a preventive work, which the Strasbourg bombing clearly shows.
We clearly distinguish two worlds: on the one hand, the authorities with an Interior Ministry who, despite all the tools and efforts made, sees its policy prove to be counterproductive and arrives at the end of the race with a security arsenal as powerful and ineffective.
The authorities did not know the level of indoctrination of Cherif Chekkat for lack of source, relevant analysis, knowledge of Islam, and are unable to differentiate between Muslim religious practice and takfiri indoctrination.
On the other hand, we have a distraued Muslim family who, in the face of this problem, does not know how to act and does not think that we can appeal to the authorities, in the light of the security policy put in place, in a mechanism for preventing radicalisation that criminates Muslim religious practice.
The State of emergency established since 2015, which lasted 2 years for, and then the implementation of the SILT Act of 30 October 2025 has brought the flagship measures of the State of emergency: the house arrest (MICAS), the searches (visit and seizure), the closures of Mosques. The battery of administrative measures introduced since 2014, including the ban on leaving the territory, must be underlined. These measures mainly target Muslims.
This has led to the Muslims no longer trusting the institutions, the Ministry of the Interior. The latter to justify the extension of the “permanent” State of emergency (SILT), applies the policy of the “figure” to satisfy the hierarchy and justify the continuation of the measures.
However, it would have taken little to avoid the “attack” of Strasbourg, but there was no trust between the family and the Ministry of the Interior.
